Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies have been developing exponentially, bringing with them significant ethical and social dilemmas. Drones, technically referred as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), promise to revolutionize various sectors, such as agriculture, logistics, specialized services, and public security, Significant advances in artificial intelligence and in the learning capabilities of algorithmic systems contribute to a combination of factors that establishes reliability in autonomous flight, increasingly reducing the need for human cognitive involvement in the control of these machines. However, this innovation also raises important socio-scientific issues that require more in-depth analysis. Delegating critical decisions to machine algorithms with high potential impact, it becomes necessary to first assess the extent to which society is protected in relation to this emerging technology. This research proposes a prospective analysis of this emerging field, examining how the integration of UAVs, artificial intelligence, and society can be improved, as well as identifying the obstacles that must be overcome to ensure safe and sustainable development. Through a multidisciplinary approach, the study seeks to understand the implications of this combination of technologies and their future applications, with particular emphasis on emerging trends within the scientific community and both national and international industries
